BEIJING, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- State Grid Jining Electric Power Supply Company has deployed a smart inspection system using aerial drones and ground-based robots to enhance grid reliability in Jining, a city in east China's Shandong Province.
The system features a network of drone stations connected via 4G/5G, enabling extended patrol coverage and multi-site operation. In buildings, drones can autonomously navigate confined spaces while transmitting real-time footage for AI analysis.
On the ground, inspection robots follow set routes, using infrared sensors and cameras to monitor equipment status. Working alongside technicians, they conduct initial wide-area inspections, while staff perform targeted rechecks in key zones flagged by the robots, enhancing both the speed and accuracy of the inspection process.
This integrated approach strengthens the company's capacity to conduct continuous inspections and respond swiftly to potential faults. (Edited by Liu Yilu)
