YANGON, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- The closing ceremony and research findings sharing session of the project "Improvement of Agriculture Trade Facilitation to Encourage Supply Chain of Myanmar's Agriculture Products in Cooperation with Lancang-Mekong Countries" have concluded in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar, the state-owned daily The Global New Light of Myanmar reported on Thursday.
At the event held on Wednesday, Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr. Aung Gyi said that in line with the National Export Strategy to double export earnings, the project was designed to include trade facilitation processes and related activities, along with market research on the most promising export crops such as rice, maize, pigeon peas, green gram, watermelon, and fishery products.
He expressed gratitude to China, the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Special Fund, the Myanmar Lancang-Mekong Cooperation National Coordination Unit of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and relevant ministries for their financial support and contributions.
Research reports on the market competitiveness and export potential of rice, maize, pigeon peas, green gram, watermelon, and fishery products were handed over to responsible officials, the report said.
From 2017 to 2025, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation reportedly received approximately 14.11 million U.S. dollars from the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Special Fund to implement a total of 42 projects, it added.
