MILAN, April 22 (Class Editori) -- Brembo, the Bergamo-based global leader in disc brake systems, has chosen China to strengthen its technological approach to AI. CEO Daniele Schillaci yesterday inaugurated the company's first Brembo Inspiration Lab in Asia, located in Shanghai. The lab will focus on advancing the company’s expertise in software development, artificial intelligence applications, and data science -- marking a further step in Brembo's transformation into a solution provider.

Brembo has been present in China since 2001, when it opened its first production site in Nanjing. Today, the company operates five manufacturing plants, a sales office, and an R&D center -- which was recently expanded --across the cities of Nanjing, Shanghai, Langfang, Jiaxing, Qingdao, and Jinan. China is a key market for Brembo, accounting for over 15% of the Group's annual revenue -- approximately €570 million out of a total of €3.84 billion in 2024, consistent with the previous year. However, in China alone, Brembo's business grew by 7.7% compared to 2023.
The new Inspiration Lab becomes part of Brembo's global innovation network, joining the Brembo Inspiration Lab in Silicon Valley and the Group's ten other R&D centers worldwide. In China, it will focus in particular on collaborations with top-tier universities, innovative startups, and strategic industrial partners to develop cutting-edge solutions that enhance the global competitiveness of the Group's clients.
The decision to invest in Shanghai reflects recognition of the city as one of the world's major economic and commercial hubs. The Inspiration Lab is located in the modern Wheelock Square skyscraper in the Jing'an district -- an upscale area that blends business and culture, making it one of the most influential neighborhoods in Shanghai.
