MILAN, Jul 8 (Class Editori) -- In the vibrant heart of Shanghai, at the Rojo Center, July 4 marked a historic milestone for Italian design. The 95th anniversary of Pininfarina and the 15 years of its presence in China were celebrated with a spectacular event that united culture, technology, and a global vision.
The event opened with an emotional video retracing the legendary history of Pininfarina -- a journey through the sensual curves of Ferraris, the tailored precision of architecture, and bold collaborations with giants of Chinese technology. Following this, prominent figures such as Tiziana D'Angelo, the Italian Consul General in Shanghai, and Zhou Ruyi, Vice Mayor of the Putuo District, expressed shared enthusiasm for the synergy between Italy and China in the fields of design and innovation.
However, it was the speech by Chery Holding Group President Yin Tongyao -- delivered via a video message during the ceremony -- that captured the attention of those present. "The cooperation between Chery and Pininfarina has become a benchmark for creating globally competitive products," stated Yin. "For us, style is not just aesthetics; it is experience. Styling technology is an integral part of Chery's technological DNA".
Yin also announced Chery's intention to establish a joint styling lab with Pininfarina to explore the most advanced design trends. This statement marks an important step not only for the automotive sector but for the entire landscape of international industrial design.
Reinforcing this bond, Wen Fei, Vice President of Chery Automobile Co., Ltd., emphasized that the collaboration with Pininfarina represents a "synergy of excellence" capable of setting new global standards. These concrete words are supported by a willingness for tangible investment and a shared vision.
Li Hanqing, General Manager of Pininfarina China, emotionally recalled the early steps of the brand's Chinese headquarters: "In 2010, we arrived with the dream of bringing Italian aesthetics to China. Today, we are pioneers of innovation." With over 500 local projects completed, Pininfarina has become a key player in the Chinese creative scene.
"Pininfarina is a reference model. Their adoption of 3D software has anticipated the evolution of the entire sector," highlighted Lou Yongqi, President of the Shanghai University of Engineering Science, who celebrated the company's pioneering approach. Lou also announced Pininfarina's active involvement in the upcoming World Design Cities Conference in September, reinforcing the Italian company's role as a global player in the future of design.
Two high-profile roundtables animated the event. On one side, brands like Otis, TCL, and Infinix discussed the value of aesthetics as a business lever. On the other, Chinese academics paid tribute to Pininfarina classics, calling them a "living encyclopedia of industrial design".
Crowning the evening was the launch of the commemorative book "Pininfarina 95 Years -- Timeless Beauty" and the "Designers' Night," where creatives engaged in envisioning the design of the coming decades. The trailer of a documentary produced by RAI sealed the initiative.
The event was also a celebration of the Italian lifestyle: Ferrari, De Rosa, Otis Villa, Sassicaia, Beretta, and other iconic brands brought a piece of Italy to Shanghai, blending taste, aesthetics, and innovation. A multisensory experience that embodied the excellence of Made in Italy, supported by partners such as Alcantara, China Overseas Center, and the Shanghai Automotive Museum. (All rights reserved)
