BEIJING, April 22 (Xinhua) -- North China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region has transmitted a total of 700.686 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) of power through its eight ultra-high voltage (UHV) transmission lines by April 21, according to State Grid East Inner Mongolia Electric Power Co., Ltd.
This amount of power can meet the annual power consumption of 270 million households, equivalent to saving over 230 million tons of standard coal and cutting carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 690 million tons.
As Inner Mongolia serves as a key national energy base, the State Grid branch has been accelerating the construction of UHV power transmission infrastructure over the years. So far, the company has built eight UHV transmission channels and a supporting power collection and distribution network, supplying power to areas such as Shandong, Tianjin, Shanxi and Jiangsu. These projects have established a comprehensive north-south power transmission corridor for delivering energy from Inner Mongolia.
