BEIJING, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) -- A China-Europe freight train departed from the rail freight yard of Yangluo Port in Wuhan, the capital of central China's Hubei Province on Tuesday morning, marking the first time that Yangluo Port handles a China-Europe freight train as a departure station.
The train, loaded with auto parts, machinery and equipment, daily necessities and other goods, was to travel through the Alataw Pass in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, heading for Hamburg and Duisburg in Germany.
The new departure station at Yangluo Port allows seamless connection between rail and water transport. It is also equipped with a freight gathering center featuring various functions including cargo distribution, intelligent warehousing, one-stop services and multi-modal transport services, significantly boosting the port's cargo handling capacity.
As Wuhan's second departure station for China-Europe freight train service, following Wujiashan Station, Yangluo Port will contribute to futher improvement of the operation network and efficiency of the freight train service, according to a relevant person in charge at Hubei Port Group.
As of February 9, China-Europe Railway Express (Wuhan) had handled 5,072 trains, significantly supporting regional opening-up and trade between Asia and Europe.
