BEIJING, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- Global Tone Communication Technology Co., Ltd. (GTCOM), a Chinese leading artificial intelligence (AI) company, has won the first place in the Japanese to Chinese machine translation competition in the Ninth Conference on Machine Translation (WMT 2024).
During the competition, GTCOM's team collaborated with Dalian University of Technology, applying advanced techniques such as back-translation, data selection, and large model fine-tuning to optimize the translation model. As a result, the continuous improvements enabled their system to stand out in terms of translation quality.
WMT, organized by the Association for Computational Linguistics (ACL), is recognized as one of the largest and most prestigious international machine translation competitions in academia worldwide. Since its inception in 2006, it has been held for 19 times in a row, attracting top research institutions and companies from around the world.
