BEIJING, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- Linyi City of east China's Shandong Province is pacing up the integrated development of commerce, warehousing and logistics, injecting new momentum in the city's modern warehouse-logistics complex construction and international market exploration.
As a notable player in the wholesales industry, the city has built one of the country's largest professional wholesale market clusters, boasting 131 professional wholesale markets with 300,000 employees and over 6 million types of commodities.
The city's bustling business is well supported by low-cost and highly-efficient logistics featuring more than 3,000 logistics highways, achieving same-day delivery for road distance within 600 km, next-day delivery for distance within 800 km and third-day delivery for distance within 1,500 km.
To catch up with business and trade expansion, Linyi has implemented integrated development combining business, warehousing and logistics, and invested hugely in a new Linyi logistics center in Lanshan District. In July 2024, the city initiated the relocation of 39 logistics parks previously scattered in the city to the new logistics center.
The new center boasts integrated facilities allowing "warehousing upstairs and logistics downstairs", which help companies expand business scope along the supply chain, saving cost for upstream manufacturers while increasing supplies for downstream dealers.
"Our company has gathered resources of over 16,000 manufacturers and hopes to form a supply chain and provide more value-added supporting services for these clients", said Quan Kai, the general manager of Huomantang (Shandong), a company initially started with exhibition business and now discussing rental deals with Linyi Lanshan City Financial Investment Group Co., Ltd, the investor of the new logistics facilities. The relocation initiative as well as the construction of over 5 million square meters of standard warehousing facilities in the new Linyi logistics center made the company's transformation from exhibition to supply chain business possible, Quan noted, adding that the relocation also helps companies explore more opportunities in overseas markets.
It is noted that Linyi is also speeding up the internationalization, digitalization and green development of modern logistics and working to build itself into a comprehensive transportation hub. (Edited by Niu Huizhe with Xinhua Silk Road, niuhuizhe@xinhua.org)
