BEIJING, July 19 (Xinhua) -- State Grid Henan Electric Power Company has been enhancing its research and development of power equipment in an effort to boost green energy development in Henan Province in central China.
In order to solve the problem of stable grid-connection and efficient use of wind power projects, State Grid Sanmenxia Power Supply Company worked with research institutions such as China Three Gorges University to develop compact and high-frequency transformers with large capacity, the core wind power conversion equipment. With the new transformer technology, the grid-connection efficiency of wind power converter equipment can be increased by 5 percent, and each wind turbine can see conversion loss cut by 800 kwh in one day on average.
At present, except for the wind farms in mountainous areas such as Sanmenxia city in the west of Henan Province, the high-quality wind resources in the province have not been fully utilized. The development of the new high-frequency transformers will help boost the development of wind power industry across the province, especially in the low wind speed areas, said a staff with the State Grid Henan Electric Power Company.
