BEIJING, July 18 (Xinhua) -- Given with the hull number of "Shanghai 11", China's first new energy ferry set sail on its maiden voyage from Shanghai on July 17, ushering in a new era of green development for the ferry industry in Shanghai, reported Shanghai Securities News.
This new energy ferry will launch a two-month pressure test and empty test sailing, and will be officially put into use on downtown routes by the end of the year.
Based on a purely electric power system, the "Shanghai 11" achieves zero pollution, low noise and low vibration, with a capacity of 250 passengers. Meanwhile, the vessel adopts lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, saving an average of 50 tons of diesel per year compared to traditional passenger ferries using diesel-fueled engines.
Furthermore, the "Shanghai 11" has introduced a digital system, smart ship system, digital twin system, and environmental detection system, which not only realizes real-time monitoring of the entire ferry, but also makes its navigation safer, smarter and more controllable.
