BEIJING, July 3 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese authorities are gearing up to roll out a series of new support policies aimed at fostering and expanding the digital industry, as revealed at Global Digital Economy Conference 2024 held in Beijing on Tuesday.
Xin Guobin, vice minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, highlighted the country's achievements in digital infrastructure and manufacturing digital transformation at the conference.
According to Xin, China had constructed 3.837 million 5G base stations by the end of May this year, accounting for more than 60 percent of the world’s total, laying a solid foundation for development of the digital economy.
In terms of the digital transformation in the domestic manufacturing industry, as of the first quarter of 2024, the digitalization rate of key processes in the key industrial enterprises reached 62.9 percent, showing further integrated development of the manufacturing and digital industries.
Xin said that the ministry is committed to implementing national data management standards and developing policies for the data elements industry. Key initiatives will focus on expanding 5G and gigabit optical network coverage, integrating these technologies more rapidly, and promoting the development of smart factories and smart manufacturing standards.
