BEIJING, May 21 (Xinhua) -- Chinese cement enterprises had built 54 cement plants in 21 countries by the end of March this year, amid their efforts to go global at a faster pace in recent years, according to data released by Cement Big Data Research Institute at the World Cement Association (WCA) Annual Conference 2024 held on May 18 in Nanjing City, east China's Jiangsu Province.
Data from the institute also shows that Chinese cement enterprises' overseas clinker production capacity expanded to 64.65 million tonnes in 2023, showing a year-on-year increase of 35 percent.
Chinese cement enterprises investing abroad not only bring advanced technology and equipment to underdeveloped countries, but also introduce enterprise management and operation experience to empower local green and sustainable development, said Ian Riley, CEO of WCA.
He added that China has played an important role in the development of the global cement sector, and Chinese enterprises have made remarkable efforts in the green and low-carbon transformation of the industry.
