Jiming tea was officially designated as tribute tea as early as the 16th year of the Qianlong reign (1736-1796) of the Qing Dynasty. The traditional Jiming tribute tea making techniques were selected as intangible cultural heritage in Chongqing in June, 2016.
The tea-producing company began to develop a series of new products mainly featuring Jiming tribute tea in 2020, with the automated tea production lines increasing from one to four, and the production and electrical equipment to 1,200 kilowatts.
To support the tea-producing company, the Chengkou power supply branch of State Grid Chongqing Electric Power Company newly installed three kilometers of 10kV lines and two sets of high-voltage interconnection switches, and connected three 10kV lines in August 2020 to facilitate line overhaul and further improve the electricity reliability.

Supported by sufficient and reliable power, the tea-producing company has seen rapid development, with the output rising to 50 tonnes and 42 jobs created for local villagers in 2023.
To support the development of the tea industry in Jiming Township, the Chengkou power supply branch has been actively connecting with local governments and enterprises and upgrading and transforming the power lines in areas for tea planting and processing since 2022.
As of the end of March this year, it has renovated five low-voltage transformers and eight kilometers of 0.4kV lines, with five transformers newly built or added capacity which stands at 1000 kVA in total, further improving the reliability of power supply. It has also installed power electricity for two small- and micro-sized enterprises, saving them 300,000 yuan in electricity investment.
The Chengkou power supply branch has also established a service station in a local village to provide suggestions for better electricity use, business consulting, safety training, hazard investigation, inspection and maintenance among other services for companies engaging in tea planting or processing.
