BEIJING, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- In recent years, Linshu County of Linyi City in east China's Shandong Province has redoubled efforts to develop the sweet potato industry based on its resource endowment, promoting the transformation and upgrading of the entire industry chain of specialty agricultural produce processing.

Located in the southern part of the Ludong Hills of Shandong Province, Linshu County boasts favorable climate conditions and geographical advantages, which enable it to produce delicious and nutritious sweet potatoes that are highly favored by consumers.

A sweet potato industry cluster has been created with over 30 enterprises as its core, including Shandong Huaqiang Agricultural Technology Company and Linshu Runyu Food Co., Ltd. In addition to traditional produce such as sweet potato noodles, sheet jelly, and starch, more modified starch products featuring modern technology have been introduced, including instant food and fast food. Furthermore, some sweet potato brands have exported their products to Japan, South Korea, and other countries.

The planting area of sweet potatoes in Linshu County has remained at over 150,000 mu (about 10,000 hectares) throughout the year, with an annual total output exceeding 500,000 tonnes and an average yield of over 4,800 yuan per mu (about 0.0667 hectare). Linshu Sweet Potato has become a well-known regional brand and obtained the geographical indication (GI) certification for agricultural products in 2017.
