MILAN, Oct 12 (Class Editori) -- From Campania to China, passing through Switzerland, Campania's exports embarked on a successful world tour in the first half of 2023. The turnover saw 25% growth over the previous six months, largely due to exports to Beijing and Berne. The Stati Generali dell'export, hosted in Alba, Piedmont and organized by the Italian Export Forum (IEF), founded by CEO Lorenzo Zurino of The One Company, outlined the picture of Campania's exports during its fifth edition.
Francesco Corbello, President of the Forum dell'Export della Campania and partner of Dubai Investment Development Agency, highlighted Istat data certifying Campania's dynamic economy. Corbello attributed the success in the export sector to "increased sales of pharmaceutical, chemical-medicinal, and botanical items to China and Switzerland. Continuing on this path requires promoting micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises in global markets while also revitalizing production chains".
In 2022, Campania's exports reached nearly 17 billion euros, with impressive growth of 29%. China accounted for a mere 179 million euros, a meager 2.2% increase from the previous year. Conversely, the region imported 4.2 billion euros from the People's Republic of China, which comprised 20% of total imports, reflecting a significant increase of 123%.
The IEF comprises over 2,000 companies with a collective revenue of approximately 200 billion euros. The organization's objective is to enhance awareness of prospects in the European and international markets, foster the exchange of ideas and perspectives, boost the Italian economy, showcase the potential of Made in Italy, and create new business prospects. Campania has achieved considerable success in the first half of 2023.
"Our region was represented at the Stati Generali by companies that have great potential for growth and expansion in international markets. These companies have created a vital supply chain for labor and were at the forefront of supporting the event," Corbello emphasized. "Our competitive system should prioritize the improvement of human capital, production chains in local territories, and enhanced cooperation between companies, professionals, and the banking system to promote internationalization".
