BEIJING, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) -- A freight train service between China's coal-rich province of Shanxi and Madrid, capital of Spain, was launched on Monday, according to Huayuan International Land Port.
A train fully loaded with 55 containers of cargo with an export value of 12 million yuan including canned products, machine counterweights and train wheels arrived at Abronigal railway station in Madrid on Monday, marking the inauguration of the service.
The train departed from a logistics park in Shanxi on September 16, passing through six countries including Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus, Poland, Germany, France, and took one month to arrive in Madrid, covering a distance of approximately 12,000 kilometers.
At present, Shanxi has launched 15 main freight train routes to Europe, passing through over 40 cities in 16 countries.
