BEIJING, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- By the end of 2022, the fund size of products registered with the Insurance Asset Management Association of China to support green industry development has amounted to nearly 1.2 trillion yuan (about 172.42 billion U.S. dollars), reported Securities Times on Monday.
Among the total value of products related with green industry, over 1 trillion yuan was registered for debt investment plans with the funds flowing mainly to the fields of transportation, energy, water conservancy and municipal works, whereas 35.1 billion yuan was registered for equity investment plans and 85.8 billion yuan for private equity insurance funds.
The data was quoted by Cao Deyun, executive vice president and secretary general of the Insurance Asset Management Association of China, on a forum focusing on ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) investment in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area held on Saturday.
Cao also noted that insurance asset management institutions should understand the core essence of ESG and implement it into investment and operation activities, making efforts from multiple aspects including mechanism establishment, concept construction and practical operations.
