BEIJING, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- The sustainable development in China has continued to improve in recent years, reported Shanghai Securities News Sunday quoting a latest report.
Jointly released by the China Center for International Economic Exchanges (CCIEE), the Earth Institute at Columbia University, AliResearch, Philips (China) Investment Co., Ltd. and the Social Sciences Academic Press (China) with the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), the report presents a comprehensive analysis on China's sustainable development in 2020.
The level of sustainable development in China has been steadily improving year by year from 2015 to 2020, with economic strength jumping significantly, people's livelihood and the environment improved, consumption and emission efficiently controlled, and the effect of governance and protection gradually highlighted, according to the report.
Specifically, it shows that Beijing, Shanghai, Zhejiang, Guangdong, Chongqing, Fujian, Tianjin, Jiangsu, Yunnan and Hainan ranked the top ten in terms of sustainable development at the provincial level, while Hangzhou, Nanjing, Zhuhai, Wuxi, Beijing, Qingdao, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Changsha and Jinan ranked the top ten among China's 101 large and medium-sized cities.
To further promote sustainable development, the report suggests making efforts in pushing forward the implementation of the Global Development Initiative and the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, speeding up the green and low-carbon transformation of the economy and society, developing the digital economy and advancing high-quality development of health services.
