MILAN, Nov 16 (Class Editori) — Italy, which is the world's largest wine exporter, ranked third among the largest wine suppliers to China in 2021, with a market share of nearly 10%. Specifically, in the past year, the value of Italian wine exports to China increased by 43.72% (165 million dollars). Volumes also increased, growing by 25.33% to 32 million liters.
These numbers were provided by the Italian Consul in Chongqing, Guido Bilancini, at the opening of the Italian Pavilion at the 106th China Food and Drinks Fair (CFDF) in Chengdu.
Jointly curated by the Consulate General of Italy in Chongqing and the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce, the 72-square-meter space is located inside Room 6 of the New International Convention & Exposition Center in Chengdu Century City and hosts some of the most active local business in the import and distribution of Italian wines.
“I would like to thank the organizers of this historic trade fair event for giving Italy such a respectful treatment,” Bilancini reported. “The CFDF is unquestionably one of the most prestigious and well-attended wine fairs, not only at the provincial but also at the national level, and being present here today testifies to the extreme importance that Italy gives to the Chinese market, and in particular the Southwest,” Bilancini continued.
“For true wine lovers, as well as for those approaching this product for the first time, Italian wine is synonymous with high quality, good value for money, variety, complexity and charm,” the Consul stressed again. The inauguration was attended also by Italian Trade Agency attaché in Chengdu Luigi Puca.
