YANGON, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- The National University of Arts and Culture (NUAC) in Yangon on Monday hosted the China-Myanmar friendship award ceremony for 55 outstanding Myanmar students of arts and culture.
Ei Kywal Kywal Bo, a second-year student who majors in cinematography and drama at NUAC in Yangon, was one of the recipients of the award.
"I envy the Chinese for their historical dramas," which feature amazing costumes, she said, adding that she hopes Myanmar's film industry will improve through the exchange between the two countries' film communities.
Aung Ko Naing, a third-year student of dramatic arts at the university, said he has a dream of studying arts and culture in China in the future.
"If opportunities arise, I want to participate in the activities of China-Myanmar arts cooperation, cultural cooperation and bilateral friendship," he said.
He said that he hopes the culture and arts communities of the two countries will get closer because culture and arts show the image of a nation.
On behalf of the students who received the award, a fourth-year student, Htein Lin Oo, thanked China for the presentation of the award.
"The award is encouraging our generation of youths to try harder in the future," he said. "I'm very grateful to China."
The award winners included 25 students from the National University of Arts and Culture in Yangon, 15 students from the National University of Arts and Culture in Mandalay, 10 students from the State High School of Arts in Yangon, and five from the State High School of Arts in Mandalay, respectively.
Addressing the award ceremony, Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Chen Hai said he hopes the students will serve as a backbone for promoting Myanmar's cultural development and carrying forward China-Myanmar "Paukphaw" friendship.
Myanmar's Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Ko Ko expressed gratitude to China for supporting the development of Myanmar's culture and arts sector.
Kay Thi Htwe, rector of NUAC in Yangon, said the award winners were carefully selected by the heads of their related departments.
