BEIJING, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- The disaster prevention and reduction center of State Grid Hunan Electric Power Company, a subsidiary of State Grid Corporation of China, recently put out a mountain fire burning 200 square meters near the 500 kilo-volt transmission line in Xinqi village, Lianyuan, Loudi city in central China's Hunan Province by dispatching a helicopter to spay 50 kilograms of high-efficiency anti-evaporation and anti-reburning fire extinguishing fluid.
The liquid fire extinguishing agent used is independently developed by the disaster prevention and reduction center of State Grid Hunan branch. It can extinguish mountain fires blazing within an area of one hundred square meter in one minute and prevent re-ignition, offering the world a solution to battling fires adjacent to or under high-voltage transmission lines.

The helicopter was also equipped with video monitoring devices, which can automatically monitor and warn of mountain fires 5 kilometers around transmission lines, according to Liu Yu, commander of the helicopter team of State Grid Hunan branch's disaster prevention and reduction center.
Based on over one million pieces of data on mountain fire points in the past 15 years it has collected, the technical team of the disaster prevention and reduction center has built a mountain fire monitoring and early warning system. So far, the system has monitored more than 28,000 mountain fire points near power grids, providing guidance to enable rapid on-site fire fighting with an accuracy rate of more than 90 percent.
Since September, State Grid Hunan branch's disaster prevention and reduction center has put out eight mountain fires near transmission lines and two forest fires, ensuring the safety of people's lives and property. (Edited by Su Dan with Xinhua Silk Road, sudan@xinhua.org)
