MILAN, Sep 19 (Class Editori) — FPT Industrial (Iveco Group) and Blue Energy Motors have signed a supply agreement to introduce the first liquefied natural gas trucks with FPT engines on Indian roads by the end of 2022.
The engines, which save up to 30% in CO2 emissions compared to conventional ones, are manufactured at FPT Industrial's Turin plant, which employs more than 2,600 people and specializes in this type of medium-displacement powertrain.
The agreement represents the first step towards a potential long-term collaboration to seize the opportunities offered by the Indian commercial transportation market, which is particularly interesting considering that India’s car fleet consists of approximately 3.5 million heavy vehicles.
For the Ambassador De Luca it is about “an important step in the strategic partnership between Italy and India for the energy transition, thanks to an engine that will allow us to lower CO2 emission to 30%. This cooperation is very important for the Italian car industry, and we hope that it will soon develop further”.
