BEIJING, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) – Nanjing Customs District, or Nanjing customs, issued a total of 52,900 Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) certificates of origin for local enterprises in east China's Jiangsu Province from January to August this year, reported Xinhua Daily Tuesday.
These certificates of origin involve goods value of 19.730 billion yuan, which is expected to reduce a total of 158 million yuan of tariffs imposed by export destination countries, according to Nanjing Customs District, which is in charge of issuing certificates of origin in Jiangsu.
During the same period, local enterprises in Jiangsu Province imported a total of 7.745 billion yuan worth of goods from RCEP member countries, and were granted tariff reductions and exemptions of 121 million yuan.
Nanjing Customs District assigns priorities to help local enterprises enjoy the preferential policies under the RCEP framework.
According to Baishigao Arts & Crafts (Changshu) Co., Ltd., a foreign-funded company in Changshu, after the RCEP agreement entered into force in early 2022, the company promptly obtained the RCEP certificate of origin issued by the local customs. As of the end of August this year, the company's total exports of textiles to Japan valuing more than 3.5 million U.S. dollars (about 24.378 million yuan) have enjoyed a cumulative reduction of more than 70,000 yuan in Japanese tariffs.
Meanwhile, Great Orient Chemical (Taicang) Co., Ltd, a chemical producer invested in Taicang by Singapore Great Orient Chemical Pt., Ltd. imported 8,000 tonnes of liquid paraffin from Japan on September 7 with the RCEP certificate of origin, and it is expected to enjoy about 5.7378 million yuan in import tariff reductions.
