BEIJING, June 30 (Xinhua) -- A special train carrying 32 40-foot containers of goods from Chinese consumer electronics and appliance manufacturer Hisense departed from Trieste, Italy on June 27, heading for Velenje, Slovenia, reported China Securities News Tuesday.
Operated by China COSCO Shipping Co., Ltd. (COSCO Shipping), the train is part of the China-Europe Land-Sea Express Line, which combines sea and land transportation, and stretches from the Greek port city of Piraeus to the hinterland of Europe.
Two weeks earlier, the train service linking Trieste in Italy and Budapest in Hungary also started operation, which is also part of the China-Europe Land-Sea Express Line.
The opening of the two train services marks the official opening of the Trieste channel, the fourth channel of China-Europe Land-Sea Expressline in the European continent.
According to COSCO Shipping, the opening of the Trieste channel is an important measure for the company to strengthen its service network and customer service capacity in Europe, and deeply involve in the Belt and Road Initiative to promote the construction of international logistics channels.
