CHONGQING, April 27 (Xinhua) -- The New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor launched a new shuttle bus service on Monday as part of a land-sea intermodal transport system, creating an additional link between southwest China's Chongqing Municipality and southern China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
A highway shuttle bus loaded with electronic components left Chongqing for the port city of Qinzhou in Guangxi on Monday, and then the goods will be shipped to the final destination of Hai Duang in Vietnam by sea in four days, according to Wang Yupei, chairman of the New Land-Sea Corridor Operation Chongqing Co., Ltd.
Wang said the launch of the highway shuttle bus service will complement the land-sea freight train service system, as it could expand the product category and greatly improve the shipping efficiency by cutting the loading process.
Besides, it also boosts the construction of the intermodal transport system including railways, waterways, highways and airlift, Wang added.
The New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor is a trade and logistics passage jointly built by the provincial-level regions of western China and ASEAN countries. Chongqing Municipality is the center of operations for the corridor.
