SHANGHAI, April 25 (Xinhua) -- At the 59th International Art Exhibition or Venice Art Biennale 2022, artist and university professor Tang Shu presents the 'Beach No.8' as part of the Swatch Faces 2022 exhibition, according to the organizer.

The 'Beach No.8' is part of the 'Beach Series' created by the Shanghai-born artist during the COVID-19 pandemic. It depicts a beach vacation from an omniscient perspective. The artist seems to use the language of a camera to capture the view from afar, focusing on one focal point, and decomposing the sun umbrellas and people into abstract color blocks and strokes.

The painting leads viewers to recognize the natural attributes of objects and builds a narrative in a two-dimensional space. It seems to indicate that the pandemic will eventually pass and encourages us to look forward to a brighter future together.

Tang uses direct, stacked brush strokes to liberate his paintings from two dimensions. He is good at depicting natural objects in a concise and spontaneous way and conveys tactile feelings in visual expression.

Postponed by one year because of the pandemic, the 2022 Venice Art Biennale takes place from April 23 to November27 with a theme of "The Milk of Dreams".
