MILAN, March 21 (Class Editori) — The enhancement of the port of Trieste is the focus of an agreement signed by Invitalia and the Port Network Authority of the Eastern Adriatic Sea. The Development Agency will provide technical and operational support to build infrastructures necessary to strengthen logistics and production activities in the port area.
In the initial phase, Invitalia will manage, as Central Contracting Authority, the tenders for the assignment of technical services, functional to the design of a first group of interventions. The latter are funded with over 145 million euros from the Complementary Plan to the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) and will be completed by 2026.
Invitalia will also support the Port Network Authority for the definition, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of activities, as well as for any actions to strengthen administrative capacity.
The interventions, part of the Adriatic Gateway Project for the strengthening of port infrastructures, are responsibility of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport. They are also included in the list of public works with particular complexity and significant impact, for which a completely innovative integrated procedural model has been established in the NRRP.
For the future port of Trieste, "we estimate the total future investments in the area will be about 1 billion euros. However, we will receive about 400 million euros from the government thanks to the NRRP, so I expect them to exceed 1 billion euros," Zeno D'Agostino, President of Port Network Authority of the East Adriatic Sea, had stated speaking from the Italy Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai on the occasion of the Friuli Venezia Giulia's Regional Day.
