Abstract : After voting by the 6th Plenary Meeting of the 1st Council of NEXT Federation, Tony Browne and William Zhao were elected respectively as the chairman and executive chairman of the Council of NEXT Federation on March 16.

Prior to this, Tony Browne was the former New Zealand Ambassador to China, Deputy Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Trade (MFAT) and executive chair of the New Zealand Contemporary China Research Centre. He had been working in the MFAT for a long time.

William Zhao is one of the major initiators of NEXT Federation and its predecessor namely Oceania Silk Road Network. He was previously the chairman of the Council of NEXT Federation.

NEXT Federation is an international platform for exploring and sharing optimal practices of international collaboration. Based in Auckland of New Zealand, the Federation engages governments, enterprises and leaders of society to improve global innovation, cooperation and sustainability.

NEXT Federation is also a member of the Belt and Road Economic Information Partnership (BREIP) initiated by Xinhua News Agency and established jointly by news agencies, information service agencies, institutions, and business associations, etc., in the Belt and Road countries. The BREIP aims to promote communication and cooperation among the Belt and Road countries through information services.
