InfoQuest (March 3, 2022) - Mr. Chantanon Wannakejohn, the spokesman and Secretary-General of Thailand's Office of Agricultural Economics (OAE) announced that the Agricultural Logistics Development Plan (2023-2027) proposed by OAE was approved at a meeting of the Agricultural Logistics System Development Sub-Committee chaired by Mr. Thongplew Kongjun, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, to develop Thailand's agricultural logistics system, and align with the Logistics Development Plan being implemented by the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC).
Its main goal is to further reduce logistics costs and improve efficiency as well as promote the sound development of the agricultural logistics industry under the guidance of the development concept of "Thailand as an agricultural logistics center in ASEAN region".
At present, the following three main development directions have been identified: 1) strengthen the capacity of agricultural institutes to train and develop farmers and practitioners in agricultural logistics management; 2) build infrastructure to facilitate agricultural logistics while building logistics network and develop the central market; 3) encourage the innovation and utilization of science and technology in the agricultural logistics industry, and promote the development of agricultural logistics industry.
