BEIJING, March 3 (Xinhua) -- China's industrial internet has achieved steady progress in 2021, playing a bigger role in boosting the digital economy, according to a report issued by the China Internet Network Information Center, reported Shanghai Securities News Thursday.
According to the report, China had built and opened 1.425 million 5G base stations by December 2021, including 654,000 new stations built in 2021. More than 2,000 5G+ Industrial Internet projects were put into construction, and the innovative application of the industrial internet and 5G in key sectors of the national economy was accelerating.
Industrial internet in China now plays a notable role in network foundation, platform hub, and network security. To promote the deep integration of 5G+ Industrial Internet with the real economy, solid achievements were yielded in the application of 5G+ Industrial Internet in electronic equipment manufacturing, steel, mining, electricity and other industries.
According to experts, it is expected that industrial internet will improve the quality and efficiency of economic development in 2022.
