InfoQuest (February 28, 2022) - According to Ms. Mallika Boonmeetrakool Mahasook, Advisor to the Ministry of Commerce, Mr. Jurin Laksanawisit, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce has instructed the Ministry of Commerce to closely follow the Russia-Ukraine conflict and formulate relevant plans to deal with the possible impact from the unrest in Ukraine.
Mallika pointed out that in 2021, the trade volume between Thailand and Russia was US$2.78 billion, among which Thailand exported US$1,028 million of goods to Russia and imported US$1,752 million of goods from Russia. The trade volume between Thailand and Ukraine was US$386.47 million, among which Thailand exported US$134.76 million of goods to Ukraine and imported US$251.71 million of goods from Ukraine.
The Minister of Commerce asked the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) to understand the impact of poor logistics operation on enterprises, and collect and sort the list of Thai logistics service providers serving the country's business with the Commonwealth of Independence States (CIS).
The Ministry of Commerce will also pay close attention to various online and office trade promotion activities, to help Thai affected enterprises deal with the possible impact.
