Guangdong-HK-Macao Greater Bay Area handles record high China-Europe freight trains in 2021

Abstract : No. X8428 China-Europe freight train loaded with 100 standard containers of goods departed from Guangzhou on Dec. 31, and is expected to arrive in Malaszewicze of Poland after 15-day trip.

BEIJING, Jan. 17(Xinhua) -- No. X8428 China-Europe freight train loaded with 100 standard containers of goods departed from Guangzhou on Dec. 31, 2021, and is expected to arrive in Malaszewicze of Poland after 15-day trip. This marked the 385th China-Europe freight train in 2021 incepted from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, reported People's Daily Online citing words from China Railway Guangzhou Group.

So far, the number of China-Europe freight trains from the Greater Bay Area hit a record high in 2021, with an increase of 123 trains or 46.9 percent growth year-on-year. The area handles an average of more than one trip of China-Europe freight train per day, a total of 203,000 tons of materials were transported throughout the year, including 146,700 tons of masks, medicines, disinfection supplies and other epidemic prevention products.

The frequency of China-Europe freight train operated by Greater Bay Area has increased from one trip per week to the current average of more than one trip per day since its launch in 2013, helping the  enterprises in the Greater Bay Area and surrounding areas to actively participate in Belt and Road  construction and go global, according to a company official with China Railway Guangzhou Group.
