NANNING, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region will further promote opening-up of the ports during the 14th Five-Year Plan period from 2021 to 2025, according to a plan recently released by the local commerce department.
Guangxi will promote coordinated development of water transport, border, and aviation ports, and strengthen its efforts of opening up to the ASEAN countries, said the plan.
Ports in Guangxi are projected to handle 266 million metric tons (tonnes) of import and export goods annually, and the container throughput for the foreign trade is expected to hit 1 million 20-foot equivalent units (TEU) by 2025, according to the plan.
Meanwhile, Guangxi will also strengthen port cooperation with members of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and continue to improve the port business environment. (Edited by Hu Pingchao with Xinhua Silk Road, hupingchao@xinhua.org)
