Comau China, founded in 1997, has its headquarters in Shanghai and operates 2 plants in Shanghai and Kunshan. It also has an Innovation Center which includes advanced electrification systems, digital solutions, smart manufacturing systems, robotics and automation products within the Shanghai plant. With over 900 employees in Shanghai, Kunshan, Dalian it is one of the most important tech companies in China and has the major potential in terms of development of Industry 4.0.
Cantalupo pointed out that Comau provides light weight car body, machining, battery, e-motor systems and is committed to use new technology to enhance flexibility and sustainability, from technology side. The Group will continue to contribute to manufacturing highly efficient and high performance EVs to serve the development needs of customers.

To meet this challenge, Comau promotes collaborative technology development through a network of regionalized innovation centers and provides global delivery and local support to customers through its worldwide presence," Wang Junwu, China Head of Technology at Comau, highlighted, adding that Comau's innovative solutions help companies effectively increase their energy production capacity.
This year, the company owned by Stellantis and led by Alessandro Nasi, Chairman and John Elkann's cousin, and by Paolo Carmassi, CEO of the Group, launched its new Smart E-Drive Test Bench, a key equipment for off-line inspection of e-motor assembly lines, it can provide customers with full-featured testing including electrical performance testing, dynamic testing and NVH (Noise, Vibration, Harshness) testing and analysis.
Innovation, Industry 4.0 & Beyond was the main theme of the panel that took place in the second part of the meeting, moderated by Alberto Fochesato, APAC Sales Director of Wuerth Industry Service China.
"The new world's situation caused by COVID-19 one the one hand stopped the business while on the other hand increased the creativity of all the researchers, since innovation has more reaction when the difficulties come out. The new concept of Industry 5.0, using new energies to improve manufacturing, pushes the new management to change production methods by using new energies, new environment-safe materials, new traceability," Lucas Breze, General Manager at Global Advanced Manufacturing Institute (GAMI), pointed out adding that the Blockchain for the industry is the new way to give us a safe life, where our medicines are not counterfeited, our food comes from healthy land and is grown with healthy ingredients.
The meeting at Comau Shanghai is part of the Mechanical Engineering Working Group (MEWG), a study project organized by the CICC which coordinates and promotes all members' needs that are active in many different industries of the Chinese mechanical engineering sector. In addition, it raises awareness on the size and the importance of the Italian technology in the sector to all institutions in China and Italy that are natural counterparts, in order to develop business opportunities, and it fosters activities and events that boost the visibility and the image of Made-in-Italy technology.
Among the participants were Alessandra Palumbo, Commercial Consul of the Consulate General of Italy in Shanghai, Paolo Bazzoni, CICC Chairman, Carlo Nizia, MEWG Vice-Coordinator and Risk Management at UFI FILTERS, Alberto Fochesato, APAC Sales Director of Wuerth Industry Service China and Jimmy Feng, China Plants Manager at Comau China.
