BEIJING, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) -- Designed to build a consensus on economic globalization and facilitate free trade and investment, the International Forum on Free Trade Zones (FTZs) Development 2021 was recently held in Nanjing, capital of east China's Jiangsu Province, reported Economic Information Daily on Monday.
Since 2013, China has set up pilot FTZs in 21 regions and introduced a number of institutional innovation measures, marking a new height in China's opening-up, said Gao Yan, head of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and China Chamber of International Commerce.
The Jiangsu FTZ, for example, has been following the guide of market demands, promoting institutional integration and innovation, and cultivating new economy and pillar industries, in a bid to deepen reform and achieve positive development, according to Fei Gaoyun, executive vice governor of Jiangsu Province.
The CCPIT will continue to work with relevant parties to make the cooperation mechanism more inclusive by developing more diversified channels for exchange and cooperation and building more effective service platforms, said Gao, noting that this will help enterprises seize the development opportunities of FTZs and promote innovative cooperation among FTZs across the globe.
Praising China's proactive efforts in promoting international free trade and improving business environment for enterprises, Samir Hamrouni, CEO of the World Free Zones Organization (World FZO) also called for further upgrades in FTZs through more institutional innovations that are specified, effective and comprehensive.
