BEIJING, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) – The Xiongan New Area of north China's Hebei Pilot Free Trade Zone (FTZ) has received an approval to set up a new comprehensive bonded zone in the area, reported Hebei Daily Wednesday.
The bonded zone project is scheduled to start construction on October 1 this year and is expected to be completed on June 30, 2022.
It is noted that the project includes supporting facilities such as a customs inspection and supervision area, quarantine area, and storage facilities.
In 2021, Xiongan New Area has entered an important stage to advance two major tasks at the same time, one is to press ahead large-scale infrastructure construction, the other is to accommodate Beijing's out-going non-capital functions. As part of Hebei FTZ, Xiongan New Area is also designated to promote institutional innovations, reform, and opening-up, and promote the development of export-oriented advantageous industries in the area.
China announced plans to establish Xiongan New Area on April 1, 2017, which is located about 100 km southwest of Beijing, aiming to build the area into a national model of high-quality development and a new engine for the modern economic system.
