InfoQuest (September 8, 2021) -- According to Mr. Supant Mongkolsuthree, Chairman of Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), FTI actively implemented the Bio-Circular-Green Economy (BCG) development model to (1) implement and perfect the BCG model, (2) expand knowledge and impart experience, (3) issue policies to reduce energy consumption and curb greenhouse gas emissions.
FTI works to advocate the development of the Smart Agriculture Industry, build a Circular Material Hubto recycle waste materials, sign a PET plastic packaging agreement, join the Alliance to End Plastic Waste (AEPW) to dispose of plastic waste, build an ecological industry, and jointly promote the transformation of Thai industry to the circular economy with PMU-C and Chulalongkorn University School of Engineering.
"FTI built an industrial circular economy demonstration park for 45 industrial clusters and 11 big industrial clusters, the main force of BCG projects, explored the development model of the circular economy for some key sectors, and compiled a CE Champion guide for five major cluster industries, including petrochemical products, building materials, food, electrical and electronic products and beauty and health care products. Maintaining close ties with SME operators, these five advantageous industries play a vital role in promoting Thailand's economic development, and are highly competitive in the international arena", said Mr. Kriengkrai Thiennukul," Vice President of FTI.
Mr. Siree Chaiseri, Director of PMU-C, expressed the need to study BCG Model from an academic level and exchange methods to promote BCG with relevant personnel, so as to implement the formulated policies. Later, PMU-C and relevant government departments will introduce policies to facilitate business operation from various aspects.
In response to the BCG economic development plan from 2021 to 2027, Chulalongkorn University will offer circular economy knowledge and research methods, providing a reference for the Focus Group and the formulation of business guidelines for related cluster industries, said Mr. Chakkaphan Sutthirat, deputy director of the Research Office of Chulalongkorn University.
