InfoQuest (July 2, 2021) -- The Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of Thailand, General Prayuth Chan-ocha, attended a meeting in Phuket on "Policy Directions to Facilitate the Smooth Implementation of Phuket Sandbox Program", and expressed his satisfaction with the implementation of the guidelines of the government, the Ministry of Public Health and the Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) after the meeting.
"The flight from Abu Dhabi has entered Phuket at 11:00 a.m. today, andthe next 14-15 days will see more tourists. TheProgramwill be extended to other regions if it goes well,". said Prayuth Chan-ocha.
Prayuth Chan-ocha also urged the research on the feasibility of introducing similar plans in provinces with developed tourism.
The opening upof Phuket concerns the whole country and all provinces need to launch pilots to verify the effectiveness of various measures.
The Program must be conducted in step with people's livelihood and economic development, and the government should play the role of supervisor for the implementation of measures, addedPrayuth Chan-ocha.
"Opening up Phuketmay be risky but beneficial. The success of the Program will pave the way for our big goal", said the Prime Minister.
Moreover, the arrival of tourists who had never been to Thailand mirrors their confidence in Thailand and their willingness to abide by the rules.
