BEIJING, April 26 (Xinhua) -- China's digital economy reached the scale of 39.2 trillion yuan in 2020, accounting for 38.6 percent of the country's total GDP, according to a white paper released by China Academy of Information and Communication Technology at the fourth Digital China Summit, which kicked off on last Sunday in Fuzhou, capital city of east China's Fujian province.
The white paper said that China's digital economy increased at a rate of more than three times that of GDP in 2020 and has became a key driving force for stable economic growth.
At local level, the digital economy of 13 provinces and cities including Guangdong, Jiangsu and Shandong surpassed one trillion yuan last year. Meanwhile, the digital economy of Beijing and Shanghai accounted for over 50 percent of local GDP. (Edited by Su Dan with Xinhua Silk Road, sudan@xinhua.org)
