Abstract : The city of Nanjing, capital of east China's Jiangsu Province, has recently unveiled a scheme to boost the development of its sports industry.

NANJING, March 24 (Xinhua) -- The city of Nanjing, capital of east China's Jiangsu Province, has recently unveiled a scheme to boost the development of its sports industry.

According to the document, Nanjing aims to bring the scale of sports consumption to 130 billion yuan (about 19.93 billion U.S. dollars) by the end of 2022, with per capita sports consumption reaching 3,500 yuan.

The city pledges to build six to eight sports service complexes, 10 city-level demonstration bases of the sports industry, and 50 sports parks during the period, which will increase the per capita sports area to 4.1 square meters.

To guarantee convenient access to athletic facilities for local residents, Nanjing will develop unattended smart gyms with 24-hour services among office buildings and residential quarters in the next few years.

The document also promises an annual subsidy of 10 million yuan for the sports industry to ensure the implementation of the policies. Enditem
