BEIJING, March 23 (Xinhua) -- East China's Jiangsu Province saw robust growth in its foreign trade in the first two months of 2021, according to local customs.
The total import and export value reached 728.23 billion yuan in the January-February period, up 30.1 percent year on year, data by Nanjing Customs showed.
Exports hiked to 459.39 billion yuan, registering a 43.6 percent increase over the same period last year, while imports totaled 268.84 billion yuan, a rise of 12.1 percent.
During the period, Jiangsu saw rapid export growth in mechanical and electrical products, and labor-intensive products.
The province's trade volume with its major trading partners such as the European Union, the United States, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the Republic of Korea and Japan surged by 33.9 percent, 42.4 percent, 35.5 percent, 17.7 percent and 27.3 percent, respectively.
The province's trade volume with countries that have joined the Belt and Road Initiative reached 185.19 billion yuan in the first two months of 2021, up 32.2 percent year on year. (Edited by Yang Yifan with Xinhua Silk Road, yangyifan@xinhua.org)
