BEIJING, March 19 (Xinhua) -- Construction of the off-grid photovoltaic power station in Gambela, Ethiopia, undertaken by State Grid China Electric Power Equipment and Technology Co., Ltd. and NARI Technology Co Ltd. as a consortium, has been completed recently.
Involvinga total investment of approximately 14 million U.S. dollars, the project is designed with an installed capacity of 175 kilowatts, and is expected to have an annual power output of 800,000 kilowatt-hours, which can feed stable and clean power to more than 400 local residents.
The project in Gambela is an important part of the World Bank's Light Up Africa development plan, and also one of the first 12 off-grid photovoltaic pilot power plants in Ethiopia.
Que Chengxin, general manager of the Africa Regional Center of China Electric Power Equipment and Technology Co., Ltd. said that all parties overcame the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the project is finally completed.
In order to provide better-quality power services to African people, the company set up an African regional center in Ethiopia this year.
