MILAN, March 16 (Class Editori) -- A new Italian partnership is about to enter the fiber optics market. Aruba, the biggest Italian cloud provider and leader in data center, web hosting, e-mail (especially certified ones) and domain registration services will team up with Open Fiber, the mayor player in the framework of FTTH infrastructures in Italy and in the EU. This strategic partnership will allow Aruba to provide optical fiber connections based on Open Fiber's FTTH network (Fiber To The Home, which means it directly arrives in houses and offices), able to reach the speed of 1GB per second.
In fact, Aruba will use the network completely made of optical fiber that Open Fiber is installing all over Italy, an infrastructure with more than 11 million residential units linked, the connection services of which are available in more than 2,100 Italian municipalities. Aruba will submit a double custom-made offer that will change according to the need of enterprises or private citizens -- Fibra Aruba and Fibra Aruba Extra -- with some substantial differences but which activation price is still included in the overall monthly cost paid for the service.
"Our company took its first steps as an Internet Service Provider in late 1996 by offering an Internet access service via traditional telephone lines," Stefano Cecconi, CEO of Aruba, commented. "Therefore, embracing fiber optics and rediscovering our roots by offering Internet access through this technology is a natural step forward for us, since this truly is the future-proof solution. To do this we have chosen Open Fiber, whose vision and mission perfectly match our project," he argued with satisfaction, highlighting how, thanks to this fully-Italian partnership, "the FTTH network provides the fastest Internet connection and, at the same time, allows to benefit from the best performance of access to all services, resources and sites of the millions of customers hosted by our Data Centers".
"The partnership with Aruba, one of the pioneers of Internet Service Providers, confirms the validity of Open Fiber's wholesale-only model," Elisabetta Ripa, CEO of Open Fiber, pointed out. "This agreement enhances our service portfolio aimed at the professional segment, enabling cloud and data center services by means of a fully-Italian partnership. Open Fiber is determinedly pursuing the creation of an all-fiber network for an increasing number of citizens and businesses: an infrastructure that did not exist until our arrival," the Group's CEO concluded.
