BEIJING, March 8 (Xinhua) -- North China's Hebei Province plans to invest 108 billion yuan (about 16.63 billion U.S. dollars) this year in transportation infrastructure projects, reported Hebei Daily on Monday.
During the 14th Five-Year Plan period from 2021 to 2025, a total of 600 billion yuan is expected to be invested in the province's transportation infrastructure construction.
Hebei will focus on building a world-class port cluster around the Bohai Sea, and add four new berths with a capacity of 6.9 million metric tons (tonnes) this year.
The province will make efforts to strengthen expressway connectivity and build more than 260 kilometers of expressways this year.
Meanwhile, it will facilitate the integration of urban and rural roads. Over 1,600 kilometers of the ordinary trunk roads will be rebuilt, of which more than 300 kilometers will be opened to traffic this year. The province aims to complete construction and renovation of rural roads with the total length of 7,500 kilometers this year, in an effort to help promote rural vitalization.
