BANGKOK, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- Thailand plans to provide a government grant to insured employees, which is expected to benefit 11 million Thais, a senior official confirmed Wednesday.
The cash grant will be provided next month to about 11 million insured employees in both public and private sectors nationwide, labor minister Suchart Chomklin said.
The grant will be provided via the government's e-wallet, which might probably amount to 1,000 baht (about 33.27 U.S. dollars) per week and 4,000 baht in total for each insured employee, he said.
However, those who may currently have more than 500,000 baht in a bank account will not be entitled to the government grant, provided under the so-called Section 33 - We Love Each Other campaign, Suchart said.
The grant campaign will be financed by part of the loans which the government has acquired and earmarked for economic stimulus measures in the pandemic situation and not by the Social Security Fund, according to the labor minister. Enditem
