BEIJING, Feb. 1 (Xinhua) -- China has strengthened the construction of charging piles since the beginning of 2021 at the policy, market and enterprise levels, which insiders believe will further bolster the development of the industry, reported China Securities Journal Monday.
East China's Shanghai Municipality recently proposed to add 10,000 public charging piles, 15 taxi charging demonstration stations and 10 shared charging pile demonstration communities, as well as electric bicycle charging facilities to 500 residential complexes, and equip the existing 1,000 electric bicycle centralized charging places in old communities with firefighting facilities in 2021.
It's learned that by the end of November 2020, Shanghai has built 385,000 charging and swapping facilities, with public piles and special piles respectively registering 62,000 and 43,000.
According to the city's 14th Five-Year Plan outline unveiled on January 30, Shanghai will strive to newly build 200,000 charging piles and 45 taxi charging demonstration stations by 2025.
Kunming, capital city of southwest China's Yunnan Province recently issued a plan saying that the city will build 78,000 charging piles of various types in 2021, and make sure that a charging station will be built in every township within the year.
Xi'an, capital city of northwest China's Shaanxi Province, recently issued detailed rules on fiscal subsidies to the construction and operation of new energy vehicle charging or swapping infrastructure, stipulating that individuals who purchase new energy vehicles in Xi'an and build fixed charging piles on their own parking spaces will be given one-time financial subsidies, 10,000 yuan for each pile.
The new energy vehicle sector of China has gradually emerged from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and ushered in explosive growth since the second half of 2020.
In 2020, the sales of China's new energy vehicles rose by 10.9 percent year on year to 1.367 million. According to the forecast of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, the figure will reach 1.8 million in 2021.
With the increase of new energy vehicle sales, the charging pile industry is expected to embrace high-quality and faster development, and may usher in greater growth in the next five years, according to Huaan Securities.
The booming development of new energy vehicles has also driven related enterprises to enhance layouts in charging infrastructure construction.
Tesla China's general manager Wang Hao said at the China EV100 Forum 2021 which was kicked off on January 15 in Beijing that the super charging pile factory built by Tesla in China would be put into production in 2021, with an annual output of 10,000 super charging piles.
