InfoQuest (January 13, 2021) - Prime Minister and Defense Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha of Thailand said that after discussions with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Mr. Supattanapong Punmeechaow and Finance Minister Mr. Arkhom Termpittayapaisith, the following measures will be introduced to mitigate the impact of the pandemic:

People whose personal income decreases due to the COVID-19, such as freelancers and farmers, will be given a subsidy of 3,500 baht/month for two months. The Ministry of Finance will draw out the detailed plans for deliberation at the cabinet meeting next week. Besides, the "Half for Each Person" assistance program will be re-launched with a cap of one million applications.

To reduce public spending, the Ministry of Finance will extend the relief time for land and construction taxes and transfer fees; reduce water and electricity charges for two months from December 2020 to January 2021; negotiate with Internet service providers to reduce the Internet fee for three months to facilitate telecommuting.

Moreover, some other assistance measures are adopted for business owners and workers in all walks of life.
