InfoQuest (December 21, 2020) -- Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Supatthanaphong Phanmechaow said on the conference "RESTART THAILAND 2021" that economic indicators have gradually improved since April 2020. Despite the impact of second outbreak, measures to stimulate the economy were immediately taken, which all have made a comeback of Thailand's tourism industry with hotel occupancy rising from 3 percent in April to current 30 percent.
Thailand is expected to take positive actions next year and may appoint the Office of Board of Investment (BOI) and the Policy Committee of Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) to meet with foreign chambers of commerce and embassies of five countries in Thailand.
Thailand has listed ten work plans for active adjustments with Thai facilitation for foreign investors ranking first among the ten countries.
"2021 will be a year to attract, improve, change and create new industries. We will better implement laws to ensure transparency, and make more use of technological means to support the assignment. Bangkok is ready for regional investment center, and the BOI will consider the matter seriously." Supatthanaphong said, "Thailand will promote the development of traditional automobile industry to electric vehicles. More importantly, private entrepreneurs shall keep confident to invite foreign investors for investment in Thailand in 2022."
An EEC-related contract has been signed and infrastructure construction will be completed within the next three to four years. Additionally, Thailand attaches great importance to narrowing the gap of wealth, which will create more economic opportunities and other job opportunities for vulnerable groups.
According to Supattanaphong, the second outbreak must be avoided in Thailand due to the severe economic impact of lockdown measures, and current controls must be continued in 2021.
"We will become stronger and more stable in 2021 when we must support each other and work together. This is the responsibility of everyone and one year is sufficient for us." Supatthanaphong added.
