MILAN, Dec. 24 (Class Editori) - Starting from next January, Caffè Milani will be joining Alibaba, the largest e-commerce worldwide, which creates a connection among 18 million buyers in 190 countries through its B2B platform. This further step has been needed due to the lack of global events and with the desire to start new trade interchanges. In this field, indeed, the Chinese platform is the first worldwide, with a turnover of a trillion dollars in the fiscal year 2020.
"We have decided to join Alibaba because we would like to present our company and products to a B2B market, where buyers seek for quality and are interested to uniqueness, customization and made in Italy, all aspects that our company can offer," Pierluigi Milani, owner of the roastery in Lipomo, in the province of Como, has declared to Efanews.
On the platform, Milani will have its own website with the company's history, the description of its production and products divided into 5 main categories: coffee beans (blends), ground coffee (single-origins and blends), Coffee in Nespresso compatible capsules (blends and single-origins), Coffee in Espresso System Milani capsules (blends and single-origins), pods (blends and single-origins).
In the meantime, the cafes market in East-Asia is growing. The three largest markets, South Korea, China and Japan have recorded a growth by 8.3%, 2.9% and 2.3% respectively (according to a data from Allegra-2020). Today, China ranks 17th among the coffee consumers and, in the last ten years, it has been increasing by 16% on average, compared to 2% recorded worldwide (ICO data). The driving force is mainly represented by young people who are used to travel and, coming back from their study or business trips abroad, bring the new habit of drinking coffee at the bar with them; a custom which is getting popular in the middle class.
In the world of coffee in the Eastern countries, made in Italy is particularly appreciated and brands with a strong tradition, reliability and products' quality are mainly chosen, such as Caffè Milani, which has experienced the opening of its first stores of Caffè Milani shops chain in Taiwan and Hong Kong and, in the short-term, that of Giovanni Pina’s cake shops, in which the protagonists of the cafe are the products of Lipomo's roastery.
