BEIJING, Dec. 18 (Xinhua) -- Hengqin New Area, known as Guangdong-Macao Deep Cooperation Zone, one of China's free trade zones (FTZ) in south China's Guangdong province, launched an integrated e-government platform on Thursday to help Hong Kong and Macao residents deal with cross-border government affairs online.
With the application of blockchain and big data technologies, the platform has incorporated data from various departments into a single portal, providing 225 e-government services including real-estate registration, tax affairs and vehicles entry and exit report, and 12 special services for enterprises.
Without paying visits to the mainland, residents in Hong Kong and Macao can file applications for the above e-government services and get results online after identity verification enabled by facial recognition technology.
The first available service is subsidy issuance for Hong Kong and Macao residents who are employed or start a business in Hengqin.
It addressed the issues of time-consuming application process and data sharing, and saved people from multiple trips between Hong Kong, Macao and Hengqin. The area will roll out more convenient services in sectors related to finance, technology and human resources by deepening cooperation with public service and social security departments in the two special administration regions, said Lin Xibin, deputy director of the area's Bureau of Commerce.
